An architectural portrait captures that “je ne sais quoi” that makes your house your home, your home your castle.

What Makes a House…

A house, even a beautiful house, is just a building, until you make it your home. The love, the magic, the memories make it truly distinctive.

A Home?

Capture the true meaning of home; it’s where your heart is.

Before our first conversation, I recommend that you:

Tell ME Your Story

If you’re looking for a truly unique gift, for yourself or for someone you love, you’re ready for an architectural portrait. My architectural portraits are created from the finest artists materials, but more importantly, from your memories, the meaning you give to this place. When we discuss your project, please share your memories and most heart-felt associations with me.

I create a home for your memories. When you share your stories with me, I infuse those stories right into your architectural portrait during its creation as part of my creative process. You, your stories, your memories, transform a simple image into art valued beyond measure. You treasure it, because you make it worth treasuring. And when you use it to forge closer connections, to share your memories with your friends and your family, you won’t be able to imagine living without it.

If you choose our unique “Tell Your Story” service, we will create a professionally written and edited text to accompany your architectural portrait. A picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes a few words… the right words… create a context where together, words and pictures tell the story just as you remember it.

Contact me to arrange your free consultation now. There is no cost or commitment to discuss your architectural portrait commission. We will discuss possibilities for designs, images, layout and sizes to complement your home, office or chosen destination.

During our conversation, please share openly with me. Tell me what this place you’ve chosen means to you. Tell me why this place, more than any other, is in your heart. To create the best possible architectural portrait, I need to feel the true meaning of this place for you.

Tell me which images and image elements are your favorites, and share all your ideas, even if they seem to be conflicting. We may be able to incorporate most or all of them. If you already know where the piece will hang, if you have color preferences or this architectural portrait commission is needed for a specific date, it is important you mention these as soon as possible in the process.

Depending on your location and our travel schedules, we may arrange a personal consultation, although this is not necessary for me to prepare your architectural portrait. I will suggest potential sizes and the cost of each. Once we have settled on a size and medium, I will confirm the price for your new painting. This is not an estimate and it will not change.

Composing the Perfect Image

If you have a photograph you love of the subject of your painting, we will arrange for you to send me a digital copy of the image. This will serve as a guide to the composition. Whether or not you have a photograph that captures the subject in a way that embodies your feelings about it, I will work with you to get the images that will let me visualize it the way you see it.

Next, I prepare sketches of your architectural portrait. The finished dimensions of the painting greatly influence its composition. Usually I will do one or two sketches and show them to you (via email or in person) for approval. This is the best time to request changes. If no sketches appeal to you, I will draw different ones.

The Creative Process

An architectural portrait takes between two weeks and six weeks or more depending on the size of the portrait, the complexity of the image and the media. Drawings can be manipulated immediately, mixed media pieces require 7 to 10 days to dry completely, and an oil painting takes approximately fifteen to twenty days to finish drying enough to transport and hang. (Oil paintings take a full year to cure, but can be safely moved around and hung during all but the first two or three weeks of that period).

If you would like to see the evolution of your piece, please tell me when you commission your original architectural portrait and I will take in-process digital pictures and email them to you. I will also email a picture of the finished original to you for your final approval.

Once you are completely satisfied your architectural portrait is exactly what you want, you will deposit the remaining amount due using PayPal or major credit cards.

Completely Authentic Art

With your commissioned original architectural portrait, you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity confirming the artwork is original, essential for insurance purposes.

When you receive your architectural portrait, unwrap it with great enthusiasm and hang it on your wall. I’d appreciate it if you’d take a picture of yourself, along with your friends and family posed with your architectural portrait and send me a copy along with your comments.
